In my current food plan and regime there is not much room for sweet treats or even peanuts. In the recent past I have been following a Paleo plan and then the 21dsd, sugar detox followed by a 5 day juice cleanse. So now that that is all over and we are on official vacation, I packed up some sweet treats to take with us on our daily adventures and beach visits.
I was super excited to try out the amazing and delicious Sun cups from Seth Ellis Chocolates. They are in a word: Delicioso.
Ana claimed them all for herself...but I told her she would have to share, so she picked her fave, Milk Chocolate...Daddy chose the Dark Chocolate and Mama went for the OOey Gooey Caramel. OOOOOH -EY. Sooo good.
I feel great about the Sun Cups as a delicious chocolately treat for her. The sun cups are nut-free, gluten-free, Certified Kosher and Non-GMO Project Verified. Great, right?? Yes.
And, the best part? They taste wonderful. Sweet, salty, crunchy. delish. Luxurious for me.
A little background from the site and the company:
"In 2008, a man knocked on the door at Seth Ellis Chocolates with a jar of sunflower seed butter and a challenge: create a candy cup his peanut-allergic son could eat. The chocolatiers got to work, inspired by the idea of a peanut butter cup for everyone. A jar of sunflower seed butter, a handful of test batches and a day later, they had cracked the code. Sun Cups were born.
Being a peanut butter cup for everyone is no small task. It calls for unseen levels of nut-free, gluten-free, Certified Kosher and Non-GMO Project Verified DELICIOUSNESS. And being the overachievers they are, the chocolatiers also made their creation all natural, using cacao from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms. That means the chocolate inSun Cups comes from farms that look out for their workers and the planet. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Sun Cups debuted in 2009. And in 2011, we added Milk Chocolate Caramel Cups and Dark Chocolate Mint Cups to the lineup to spread the love to even more dessert-earners worldwide.
Today, our Boulder chocolate factory is buzzing around the clock churning out chocolate safe for tree nut, peanut, gluten, egg, soy, fish and shellfish allergies. As an added bonus we DO NOT include corn, sesame, coconut and mustard!"
Ana really likes them too. She has no idea that sunflower seed butter could be just as yummy as peanut butter and almond butter :)
Also from the company:
In the world of chocolate, darkness shines bright. And 60% dark chocolate is 100% amazing. In our Dark Chocolate Sun Cups, this fantastic force of nature has met its match in roasted sunflower seed butter—the most epic peanut-alternative the allergic and gluten intolerant could ever imagine. If you’ve been on the lookout for a darker version of nut free chocolate candy, look no further. And as with all our products, our Dark Chocolate Sun Cup is gluten free as well."
