Review: The Reservoir Emergency Water Storage System
Hello Dear Readers:
I do not know where you live or what kind of natural disasters you face seasonally (earthquakes, flooding, storms, etc). Here on the East Coast we have had a couple doozy storms in recent years including Sandy, which left destruction and death in her path.
When the wind starts to blow and the snow piles up , I get a little nervous living out here in the country. However, we are usually prepared for hunkering down and facing whatever storm lies ahead. This includes a working generator, lots of canned and boxed essential foods, candles, flashlights and now "The Reservoir" Emergency Water Storage System. Sometimes we fill pots with water and put them in the bathtub, but now we do not have to resort to that. With the Reservoir, we just plug the top of the bag to the faucet and fill.
Then , we have clean and safe drinking water to take us through the storm. Here are the specifics:
Never get stuck in a long line to buy bottled water again! Hurricanes or tropical storms may disrupt or
contaminate your water service for days, but you can stay comfortably at home with an ample supply of fresh, clean, safe water, thanks to this plastic liner that turns your tub into a sanitary storage tank.
Holds Up to 100 Gallons
Emergency management authorities recommend having on hand at least 3 days' worth of drinking water, allowing at least 1 gallon per person/pet per day. The Reservoir gives you the capacity to meet these minimums, with plenty left over for cooking, washing and flushing.
Keeps Stored Water Clean and Safe
Authorities recommend filling your bathtub with tap water. But that's a problem because it leaves water exposed to any dirt and debris that might fall in, as well as soap residues on the tub itself. The Reservoir insulates water from those contaminants with heavy-duty, food-grade plastic that meets FDA safety standards.
Easy to Fill, Easy to Dispense
The Reservoir is filled simply by sliding the fill tube onto the tub faucet and turning on the water. To get water out of The Reservoir, a siphon pump is included. Give the bulb a few squeezes to get it started and the water will flow automatically until you open the vent cap. The siphon tube fits into any bottle, jug, teakettle or other container opening. Just fill and go!"
Super easy, and I will be keeping this in my water closet in the guest bathroom just in case we get hit hard this winter.

Review: Help Fight Childhood Cancer!!!! #millionmiles
Hello Dear Readers:
I received this adorable little lemon tee to promote an important message. I cannot even imagine how I would feel if Ana was ever diagnosed with childhood cancer, it is just such a bleak thought and makes me so sad to even know that any child would have to suffer. We need to fight cancer. Especially childhood cancer. I have had several close relatives and even a friend pass from cancer and it is really my personal enemy. I feel so helpless against it so I will do anything I can to help!
This is the message I was sent from the Million Miles pr :
" To find a cure for childhood cancer, we’re going the distance…one million miles! That’s a long way, but a parent of a child with cancer would go that far - and then some - to find a cure. During the month of September (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month) we will collectively run or walk one million miles to raise funds and spread the word of the need to support childhood cancer research."
Now I walk and or run almost every day, and if I could help with those million miles any way I could why not?

Review: Alpina Greek Blueberry / Vanilla Yogurt and Granola Cheesecake! Delish with Chef Ana #AlpinaGreek
**Disclosure: I am part of the Smiley360 Blogger Program and received yogurt coupons, and the baking kit to help with this post. I was not compensated for this post and the opinions within are my own.. You can join Smiley360 here!"
Dear Readers:
Chef Ana and I were challenged to make a beautiful cheesecake using Alpina Greek Yogurt and other delicious ingredients. So Ana donned her new beautiful personalized apron from Joy of Giving Etsy Shop found here and we got ready to experiment (recipe below).
First we headed out to Hannaford where we found a couple different flavors of the Alpina including blueberry and vanilla. Since the recipe called for 4 yogurts we chose 2 blueberry and 2 vanilla to mix it up a bit. Yum. We got out all of the ingredients, the food processer , the blender, and a pie dish. Then we got to baking.

- Strawberry or Plain. Equal to 2 cups)
- ½ cup sugar

- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- Pie Crust Ingredients:
- 4 Artisan Granola domes (taken off yogurt package)

- Almond Berry=Almonds | Tropical Chai=Cashews) We used Almonds! Yum.

Making the Filling |
- In a blender, combine the yogurt, eggs, salt and sugar (add vanilla if you are using Plain). Blend until smooth. Add cornstarch to mixture and blend again. Pour filling into crust in pie pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes.
- Let cool then chill in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours before serving.
- Once cheesecake is cooled, garnish with fruit if desired.
Notes:
Yogurt and Granola Pairings: Strawberry and Blueberry Greek Yogurt = Almond
Berry | Plain Greek Yogurt = Superfoods | Mango and Peach Greek Yogurt = Tropical Chai
Final Product:
Hubby said it was the best cheesecake I have made so far. Ana thought it was "yummy" and I had several pieces too! It was light, the crust was flavorful and fruity and the filling was delightful. It did not taste like eating a yogurt, but rather like a sumptious dessert. I will be experimenting with other flavors in the future and making yogurt cheesecake for family and friend events. Yum. What a great surprise.

Review: Jammy Jams Once Upon A Rhyme; Lullaby Renditions of Hip Hop Classics

Hello Dear Readers:
I have a few mommy rules that I have stuck too since becoming a mom. But one major rule that I have broken time and time again, is that dreaded: WILL NOT listen to baby/kids music in the car all of the time rule. Ugh. I do not think it is worth fighting with Ana to play "mommy's music" when she clearly loves her music together and raffi cds so so much.
Soo...... you can imagine how happy I was to review the wonderful "Once Upon A Rhyme" cd which combines the soothing sounds that are relaxing to Ana in the car, with the cool songs that Mommy likes to listen to. Ana has no idea that most of those songs are songs that I have been listening to for years. These include:
The Real Slim Shady by Eminem
Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio
and
Girls from the Beastie Boys.
The songs are soothing, catchy and really fun to listen to. It is fun to teach Ana some of the songs from my youth in a new way. She really digs them, and has even taken out some of her cds from the player and put this in to listen to when she is in the playroom. I think it is so cute to hear her humming to the Beasties. I mean., come on THAT Is so cool. A three year old getting down with Ad rock and MCA.
Want more deets about the cd? Coolness. Here is the info from the company:
" On “Once Upon A Rhyme: Lullaby Renditions Of Hip-Hop Classics”, Jammy Jams explores the melodies of old school hip-hop songs and brings them to life with calming renditions for parents to enjoy along with their babies. The parent can take a stroll down memory lane while creating brand new memories for baby. This album soothes the inner and outer soul. You will be amazed as you listen to soothing lullabies featuring the melodies of acclaimed old school hip-hop songs such as Run-D.M.C.’s “Rock Box” and Coolio’s “Gangstas’s Paradise”. The soothing sounds are what Jammy Jams is all about. Experience these popular tunes in a whole new way with baby today."
