Dear Readers:
Ana loves letters. Well, actually she loves numbers and letters. But she really loves writing letters, her name especially and she is really showing interest in learning how to read. She pretends to read to her dolls, and tells the story of her favorite books pointing to letters as she reads. So I thought it was high time to start teaching her letters and words. I know there are a lot of great programs out there to help with reading and when one of the programs: "Children Learning Reading" contacted me to review their program, I jumped at the chance.
I downloaded the materials and read all of the parent information to get started. It was sent to me as an ebook. I do prefer a hard copy of a book, but this way I can download it onto the ipad as well and take it with me on the go.
I am not going to lie. The introduction and information for parents is long and thorough. It took me awhile to get through it before I even started with the lessons on letters for Ana. There are a lot of pages, and they cover such things as: having patience, teaching phonics, and phonemic awareness. I admit, I did not know where or how to start with Ana. There are just so many ways to start, and this guidebook takes it step by step in a clear, concise manner.
According to their info: " Children Learning Reading is a super simple and effective, step-by-step program that helps parents teach their children how to read, with video proof shown on our website. " Check out the website: (http://www.childrenlearningreading.org). There, they have many quotes from happy parents who seem to have found success with this program. We have just started with Ana, so I wouldnt quote me yet, but I will let you know in a couple of months how it is going. She seems to be interested, so that is a good start.
This from the site: " Our reading program works amazingly well to teach children of all ages to read well. It's simple enough to even teach 2 and 3 year old children to read. Please see the videos we posted on our site."
So we shall see. I always have an open mind when it comes to this smart child, as she picks up things quickly and thoroughly and this program makes it seem very easy. It is a great start towards a lifetime of loving reading, like her mama and grandma before her.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
