Review: Apple Ipad Cases from Apple Pie (brown kraft and white)

Hello Dear Readers:
I have found an adorable new kid's Ipad Case for Ana's Ipad. It is perfect for her and is the right price.  And has all of the best qualities for a 3 year old's Ipad cover:
  • Durable - kids iPad case must protect the front, back and corners from small drops and scratches.
  • Functional - kids iPad case needs to stand for movies, close easily and type at an angle.
  • Aesthetically pleasing and flexible, kids iPad case with solid design, and able to be customized.
  • The right material - Kids had to love working with the material - and it had to be something where parents wouldn't freak out if kids' post-yogurt fingers got all over it
  • Freakishly inexpensive
  • 100% recyclable
  • Made in the USA
Perfect huh? I think so. Ana does too. She has been playing with it for the past couple of weeks, and I know that it is durable enough, that I am not worried about her breaking it. And if it can get past an active 3 year old, it can get past anyone.

Welcome to the new approach to kids iPad cases.  At a sale price of $16.99 for a 3-pack (less than $5.67 each), it's a bargain.  Sold and shipped in 3-packs of either brown kraft, or white - exclusively from www.ApplePieUSA.com - the best way to shop for American products and American brands.

Review: Batiste Dry Shampoo

Dear Readers:
I hate to admit it but since I became a mom, I don't always have time to wash my hair and some days I  have to jump in and out of the shower. I was so super excited to try out the coolness of Batiste Dry Shampoo for those super busy days.  Every other day, I do an outside workout with Stroller Strides, and my hair is thrown into a ponytail and sprayed quickly into place. With Batiste, I sprayed my hair before the ponytail and combed the light sweet smell through my hair. At first I though my hair looked chalky, but when I combed the dry shampoo in, the chalkiness went away.

"Future home of photo of me using this dry shampoo"

More info from Batiste:
"Summers are full of events, outdoor activities and long weekends. Batiste is a quick and convenient way to give your hair the boost it needs! Batiste banishes oily roots and revitalizes greasy, dull & lifeless hair between washes, without water. Most dry shampoos are made with corn starch - but not Batiste! It's made with rice starch, which is lighter on your hair so it won't weigh it down or leave a heavy residue! It can also be used to add volume to fine hair. Give Batiste a try when you're running late, camping, or just because you want to!"

I will be using Batiste often in the summer, especially when I go from a run to the store, and need a quick fix. I really enjoyed testing it out and am now a big fan.

"future home of another great shot"

Review: Therapearl Eye-sential Mask for Sinus Headaches

 Dear Readers:
For many years, I suffered from the most terrible sinus headaches and migraine headaches from allergies, and other environmental factors. Recently, after years of getting weekly allergy shots, the sinus headaches have pretty much dwindled down  to a once a month pain in the head. I have tried every pill, remedy and therapy to make the headaches better and they have really gotten easier to live with and handle. I was super excited to try the Therapearl Eye-sential Mask and find out just how much relief could be found with one more easy to use therapy. A soft and cool eye mask.

First , I found a quiet place in the house. Not so easy in my house with a very sweet, but very active and musical almost three year old who loves to sing for her mama. So I found daddy's big leather club chair and sank into it in a comfy way and put the mask on. I didnt have a headache so I made it cold instead of hot to combat the puffiness from lack of sleep around my dry eyes. Wowweee, it felt cool and wonderful, and I wanted to take a nap in such bliss.

Want more info so you can try out your own mask? Here is all the info you need:

  • The mask can be used cold or hot.
  • Cold relieves dry, puffy eyes and those wicked sinus headaches.
  • It takes the sting out of a brow wax and reduces swelling after a cosmetic procedure.
  • Heat helps to reduce nasal congestion and relieves soreness once the swelling is gone.
  • Chill it in the freezer or fridge or pop it into the microwave.
  • Place it over your eyes and sinuses, or slide it up to your forehead.
  • Its pliable, face-hugging shape stays put without drips or leaks, and the therapeutic temperature lasts 20 delicious minutes.

http://walmart.linqiad.com/click/YMJXaGUfdnJk
Dear Readers:
This article is sponsored by Walmart. I am being compensated for this post, and truly believe in the importance of education for our country and the world.

It is almost that time of year again. For many, going back to school is exciting and fun and most kids get excited to shop for new outfits, notebooks, pens and pencils. As for me, this coming Fall is bittersweet as Ana will be starting Pre-school and leaving me for a couple of hours a day three days a week. I am not sure I am ready to be away from my sweet child, so I am savoring every summer day and activity with my sweetie. In the meantime, we talk about all of the fun activities and lessons she will learn at her amazing Nursery School. And, along the way I am keeping track of what we will need when the end of August arrives.

I have made a short list of all the things that we need to pick up for Ana before we start school and I just signed up for Classrooms by Walmart. This way, it will be easier to keep track.

What is Classrooms by Walmart? Easy peasy to buy the right school supplies based on a list provided by your son or daughter's teacher.

To make it simple head over to Classrooms and put in your school or zip code. I chose Zipcode.  Then, click on your school. and follow the link (our primary school was listed ) so I clicked on the link and then clicked to request a list. This led to an email to forward to our teacher as so:

I wanted to let you know about this new service to manage school supply lists and teacher’s registry for any classroom: Classrooms By Walmart. Building a classroom supply list or registry is easy and it helps parents shop for school supplies, without the hassle.

To create a list, follow these easy steps:

1)  Go to Classrooms by Walmart
2)  Fill in the necessary information
3)  Share with parents!

In the meantime, I am making a list of cute things to buy at Walmart including a cute pink backpack, lunchbox, adorable pens and pencils, erasers, makers, crayons and notebooks. And of course, paper, colored paper, and crafting supplies for art class. To make this even better, when you shop online you can earn box tops for your school!!! How lovely!!!

Classrooms by Walmart is more than just a great new way to buy school supplies! Check the “Cash for Schools” landing page and see if your school has signed up. If so, you can begin earning 4% cash back on all  Walmart purchases for your school. If not, provide your school administrator with the printable “Free Cash For Your School” PDF.

So what are you waiting for. Head over to Classrooms by Walmart and make it easy for your back to school shopping. Plus help your school out!!!

 Dear Readers:

I love cute tees. Baby tees. Soft, cottony oversized steal from your husband tees.  Funny, sarcastic and sweet tees.So I was stoked to review this adorable Dinosaur tee.  Ana loves all things dinosaur right now, so she loves when I wear it.  I originally thought it would be perfect for Duncan, but it is slightly small for his frame, so I snatched it up and wore it.  And there is nothing more comfy on a hot NY day than a cotton tee and shorts. And this is one comfy tee. And so cute. Dontcha think? The dinosaur is trying to scoop out some yummy ice cream, but oops he missed. Cute!

Review: Children Learning Reading. A guide to teaching how to read.

Dear Readers:

Ana loves letters. Well, actually she loves numbers and letters. But she really loves writing letters, her name especially and she is really showing interest in learning how to read. She pretends to read to her dolls, and tells the story of her favorite books pointing to letters as she reads. So I thought it was high time to start teaching her letters and words. I know there are a lot of great programs out there to help with reading and when one of the programs: "Children Learning Reading" contacted me to review their program, I jumped at the chance.

I downloaded the materials and read all of the parent information to get started. It was sent to me as an ebook.  I do prefer a hard copy of a book, but this way I can download it onto the ipad as well and take it with me on the go.

I am not going to lie. The introduction and information for parents is long and thorough. It took me awhile to get through it before I even started with the lessons on letters for Ana.  There are a lot of pages, and they cover such things as:  having patience, teaching phonics, and phonemic awareness. I admit, I did not know where or how to start with Ana. There are just so many ways to start, and this guidebook takes it step by step in a clear, concise manner.

According to their info: " Children Learning Reading is a super simple and effective, step-by-step program that helps parents teach their children how to read, with video proof shown on our website. "  Check out the website: (http://www.childrenlearningreading.org). There, they have many quotes from happy parents who seem to have found success with this program.  We have just started with Ana, so I wouldnt quote me yet, but I will let you know in a couple of months how it is going. She seems to be interested, so that is a good start.

This from the site: " Our reading program works amazingly well to teach children of all ages to read well. It's simple enough to even teach 2 and 3 year old children to read. Please see the videos we posted on our site."

So we shall see. I always have an open mind when it comes to this smart child, as she picks up things quickly and thoroughly and this program makes it seem very easy.  It is a great start towards a lifetime of loving reading, like her mama and grandma before her.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Ana's Latest Photo shoot, Almost 3 Years Old!!

Dear Readers:

As I sit here finishing up "the list" for stuff for Ana's birthday party, I realize I have not written a letter to her in a while, so that will be coming soon. There is so much about her that I want to remember and show her when she is older, she is really such a character.  For now I hope these photos we just took at JC Penney Photo Studio suffice to say what a sweet girl she is, and show her beautiful personality inside and out. She was such a delight during this shoot, smiling and laughing and having fun. She listened to the photographer, and really I should take her to model, but I want her to be a kid. And just  enjoy her childhood ,carefree.

What do you think? Do I take her to a great modeling agency/talent agency in NY? Or do I let her just be a kid? Do I wait for her to ask me to start auditioning or do I suggest it and see what happens? I am on the fence about this.

I mean this kid dances and sings around the house all day long. She makes up songs, she sings songs from music class and tv shows and she practices "ballet" on her own to classical music.  I know she loves it and she is a complete ham. She says,"Watch this mom"and twirls and twists with such sweetness and happiness , it is truly fun to watch her.

My sweet sweetie. I love her so. I cannot wait to celebrate her birthday next week and have fun! Crafts we are making coming soon..they are so cute :))  Stay well and happy summer.

XO

Revolt Now FIT, Post Rebel Race and my 12 week update!!

Hello Dear Readers-

I am so sorry I have been MIA, but there is good reason. I have been training for my first 5k Mud run the NY Rebel Race, going back to work and shooting my first post baby feature film, swimming and having lots of fun play dates with Ana, spending QT with my family and crafting for Ana's 3rd birthday party. That doesn't leave a lot of extra time to write but I promise that when the party is finished and I am done shooting in August, I will be back with lots of purdy posts. In the meantime, I would love to catch you up with my 12 week progress report for my first 12 weeks with Nichole Huntsman's REVOLT program: Here are my before and after measurements broken down:

Before  5/2/13:                                               After 7/21/13:

5'4" 150 lbs                                                     5'4" Stopped weighing in at 139

38dd                                                                35.5 d
33                                                                    28.2
40                                                                    34.5

My arms are tighter and stronger, as well as my legs. And although I still have a way to go, I am pleased with the progress so far.

I am in no means done and am going to continue for another 12 weeks for sure. I plan on eating this way for a good long time and working out 5-6 days a week is just how my life is going to be.  Stay healthy and enjoy your summer...Be back real soon!!!

Sponsored- Brancott Estate Wine Tasting with The Bachelorette #chillhour

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Brancott Estate Wines. I received a gift card to purchase party supplies to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

 Hello Dear Readers:

It is time for the ladies to come over and watch the Bachelorette on tv and chill out with some yummy appetizers and delicious Brancott Estate Wine. I picked up a few bottles of the Sauvignon Blanc, recorded the latest episode on the dvr, the kids have had a lovely swim play-date and now it is our turn to have fun.

First, I got the spread ready:

The wine is ready for the ladies

 and

2 kinds of pita chips, goat cheese, hummus, grapes, olives, havarti with dill and crackers. We are just getting started

Are you familiar with Brancott Estate Wines? No. Well, I wasnt before I tasted it, and let me tell you: After you try it you will fall in love. First, I was told the SB would pair nicely with  grilled oysters, barbequed prawns or salmon, poached whitefish with fresh green salad. Also, hummus, olives and feta match as well as avocados , yum! I made a Mediterranean spread to match the notes and yum, it went so well we ate it right up.

A little history about Brancott Estate Wines: They are from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. They have been producing their Sauvignon Blanc for more than 30 years, and the release of the first Marlborough SB vintage in 1979 was the beginning of a phenomenon that placed New Zealand on the international wine map. This particular wine has notes of rock melon, lemongrass and ripe gooseberry. It is light and sweet and I really enjoyed it. I like light wine, especially in the summer and this was light and tasty. Not too heavy, and definitely paired well with the olives and goat cheese.

Why pair Brancott Estates with the Bachelorette for a Ladies Night In? Well it just so happens that JB and Ashley have enjoyed the very same wine for themselves. It was important to get the ladies together without the kids (for once) and have some adult conversation and fun. We shared laughs, some great nibbles and a had a wonderful night. Here are a couple of shots before and during the party (and hubby even snuck in and had a glass):

The ladies from Stroller Strides are ready! The baby was not there when the drinking took place!
After the swim, before the kids went home and the ladies night begun. We have our wine and we are ready to drink it!!

H and W have some to share too!

The party got started and it was a small group combined of close friends and the ladies I work out with (I consider them friends too of course, but that is how I met them). We had fun drinking, joking, eating and watching the show! I Dvr'ed it because Monday night didnt really work for the working set, and it just worked out better to host on the weekend with a play date pool party during the day and the wine tasting in the evening.

D snuck in to try a taste before we ate!
Not all of my friends are watchers, but it was fun to chat along with the show and drink to the guys and the home dates. I am not sure I converted anyone into being new watchers, but the non watchers had fun anyway!

Review: Lokai Bracelet for Balance

 Dear Readers:

Recently I received a very cool Lokai bracelet. I wasnt sure what to expect after reading the story of Lokai, and at first I wasnt even sure I really liked wearing the bracelet. I am not going to lie, I like gold and blingy jewelry and usually go for over the top big statement pieces and bubble type necklaces and bling. But after reading the story, I had such a respect for the bracelet and what was within it that I started to wear it when I work out and run.  For some reason , I associate it with balance within my self , and I feel balanced when working out.  So what is the story behind the Lokai bracelet. What is it made out of, and why does it have the black and white pieces on it?

"The Story of lokai":

"Have you ever experienced a moment that shakes you to your core? We all enter moments when we’re suddenly very aware that our lives can take a turn in an instant. That right behind challenges lie times of great happiness – and vice versa.

For Steven Izen, that moment was during his freshman year at Cornell University. His grandfather, “Papa,” was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. It was the first time he felt helpless, knowing he would have to sit back and watch his Papa’s mental faculties and body slowly deteriorate.

Days after he received the heartbreaking news, Steven found himself on the beach with his family and friends. He wondered - how could some parts of his life feel so aligned, while others were so broken?

It was this realization that was the driving force behind lokai, a bracelet that encourages one to be humble through the highs and hopeful through the lows. Drawn to the earth itself and its natural sensibility of highs and lows, Steven set out to give this sense of balance a physical form. Nearly three years later, after countless hours of research and development, lokai was born.

The bracelet is infused with elements sourced from the highest and lowest points on Earth. The white ball, carrying water from Mt. Everest, and the black ball, holding mud from the Dead Sea, exist on opposite ends. A string of clear beads link the two, signifying that throughout life’s circular journey, your path is your own. As Steven puts it, “life is about the journey, not the destination.”

Life is marked by highs and lows. And without one, we could not appreciate the other. The lokai bracelet is a constant reminder that no matter how far the scale tips in one direction, you should always strive for balance.

Wear lokai to remember that life sees many altering moments - it’s how you process them that matters most. Wear it as a reminder that your path is yours alone, or give lokai to someone who might do well to remember the value of his or her own personal journey.

No matter the setback, success or surprise, enjoy your story. Wherever your journey takes you, find your balance.

I really love the story and of course love that if indeed the bracelet holds mud from the Dead Sea, I find that so very cool. I have not cut mine open (like others have) to find out. I will just wear it to symbolize the balance I need as a woman who wants a family and to work. The balance of a country girl with city taste. The balance of a ditzy actress with a down to earth mom. Just balance. I am still not sure what the bracelet is made our of? Rubber? But i will be wearing it when I need more balance in my life.
