Ana and I in the same dress, 36 years apart! Thanks Mom for saving this beautiful outfit!
Hello Dear Readers,
It has been somewhat of a crazy, hectic, fun and social week. Play dates galore, parties and holidays as well as plenty of family time. We are finally home and Ana is trying to take a nap. While I have my hour or so of peace and quiet I popped on to let you know that things are going to change around here. I need organization or I get too crazy. And I forget things. So, as part of my New Years Resolution on organization, I am going to get this blog all up and organized. Here is the plan:
Mon Recipe of the Week (healthy or decadent, sharing at least one recipe a week)
Tues Craft, Art Project or Creative Idea for the Week
Wed Photos or Wordless Wed
Thurs Vintage Ana/Or Heartfelt Note to Ana. Gotta have at least one personal blog per week.
Fri Fashion Friday, featuring great sales , etsy or ebay finds, or an outfit of the week.
Sat
Sun Probably will combine the weekend posts once the spring sets in and we get busy on the weekend. Will be random posts, garage sale finds, party planning etc.
Giveaways and Reviews will be posted at least one new one a week (I am hoping) leading up to a Spring Fling in May, and Ana's Going to be Three (July).
Phew. Sounds good. Now If I can just stick to it. I hope to. So what do you think? Am I missing anything? Happy Spring and Happy Organization.
My friend Alison over at the Rosy Snail is giving away a very generous box from Beauty Fix, so I thought I would share it with my readers too. This is a really great way to try new products, and they are chock full of beauty galore. I received one of these once, and it was wonderful (and came in the cutest makeup bag.) Here is what is in the current box, written in Alison's words:
Glytone Mild Gel Wash. This is a full size and a very hefty size too at 6.7oz! This product retails for $30.
Oxygenetix Oxygenating Moisturizer. The first thing that
stuck me about this product was the smell.I definitely feel the “oxygen” part of it in that it’s light and
absorbs quickly and doesn’t irritate my typically oily complexion. This
is a half size product with a sample value of $51 (right there, the ENTIRE cost of my kit!)
Arcona Cranberry Gommage. This was a small sample and worth $12.60 I’ve fallen in love with this one already so full size, here I come.
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel for when you need a serious skin
refresher. This bottle is made of adorable frosted glass. This half size
sample has a sample value of $25. I’ve tried this twice so far and I’m really loving this as an overnight treatment.
Two products by Zensations. First, their Super Rich Repairing Mask.
Who doesn’t love a good mask! This mask also comes in a beautiful
bottle, but what’s really outstanding is how it leaves my skin. I could
feel the damage from the winter just melt off as I used this for the
first time. This will make a wonderful transition product for each
season. This is full size and has a huge price tag of $75- glad I didn’t have to pay that much.
And lastly, I got an item that I got last
time and was happy to see it was still available! I’ve been obsessed
with Nailtiques for the past year and this Hand Conditioner
is one of the reasons. It’s a whole new level to hand cream and if
you’re dealing with dry hands, I HIGHLY recommend this one! This is a
full size and retails for $12.99.
Overall, BeautyFix is the BEST Quarterly
subscription on the market and I just cannot say enough amazing things
about it! This season, my box had a value of $306.59! For a box that costs only $49.99!
BUT if you’ve never tried
BeautyFix before, you can sign up and use the code BFix4 to get your
first one for only…..(drumroll please!!) $19.99!! It’s ALREADY a deal
but at $19.99, you’d be a fool not to try it out!
Because I love BeautyFix SO much, I’ve decided that one lucky reader is going to get this seasons box on me! That’s right! We’re giving away a Beautyfix box full of your very own picks! Just enter below to win!"

Hello Dear Readers:
These short videos are my first attempt at "Haul" videos. I am not sure they are an Epic Fail. Just a slight fail. Ha. They were amusing to make though. I thought it would be fun, because Ana and I found such cute things for such cute prices. I looove shopping, and hope that Ana loves it too, because it can be a bonding experience for us when she is older. Providing we like the same fashion, or style, or something. In the meantime I guide her through the store and point out things that I think she would like (tutus, ruffles, sparkly stuff, girly stuff) and throw in leggings and jeans to pair with everything. This particular shopping spree was for pre-school which she starts in September. I tried to pick basics that I would not worry about paint, clay, crayon, marker, dirt, etc getting on. Easy to wash, easy to dry and low maintenance. And some cute shoes. And, I bought Ana her first pair of Uggs, but they are not in the videos.
Osh Kosh:
Children's Place:
We had fun and will be making more, especially when garage sale season starts again in April! Also, I will be adding the prices, because they were so amazing :)

I was missing my Pet of the Week posts so I am so happy to see Miss Nory this week. Isnt she a cutie pie?
Nory is an adorable 1 ½ year old domestic medium
hair mix. Even though she is a girl, she has quite the distinguished
handlebar mustache! This lovely lady can sometimes get too excited about
getting attention, so she needs an adopter who can be in-tune with her
needs and read her body language. She will tell you when she’s
overwhelmed and needs some beauty rest on her own. Nory is a spunky
young cat who is on the hunt for an experienced cat owner who will
appreciate her. She might be a handful for young kids, so children over
the age of 12 in the home would be best. Nory is spayed and up-to-date
on all vaccinations.

Dear Readers-
I am having one of those days. Actually it has been three days since I really started feeling this way. Down. Sad. Bored. Restless. Definitely a bit of spring fever. I miss working out. Getting my body going. And, I have been eating nothing but junk and I cannot seem to stop. I have given myself until April 1 and then I am putting a kibosh on the snacking, the crap. I need to run every day or every other day. I need to work out in some way every day. I am sooo restless. I am signing up for a virutal marathon, and might even sign up for my first 5k in May. I am done with being restless and done with sitting around on my butt. Ok, so we got a lot of crafting done, and I read a few books and caught up with some good tv , but I long for the park, and walking by the river. I need to do something fun and active like a hike up a mountain. Or a run by a stream. Ugh. It is just one of those down in the dump days. Woe is me kind of days. I know things will change soon but in the meantime I will wallow in my snow filled vision and dream of sand filled afternoons. So I can complain about being sweaty and hot by the pool or lake.
When Ana was born, I knew that one of the things I wanted to make sure she had exposure to at an early age in her development, was language. When I decided to study French in school, it was so exciting to learn another language, and immerse myself in French culture. But, I always wanted to learn Italian and Spanish too. Growing up in NY State and living in and around NYC, I have been exposed to Spanish speakers, and have picked up a few words here or there, but not enough for a conversation or to read a Spanish book. But , I am going to change that . And, BookLingual will help. I received the pdf files included with BookLingual Spanish, which include several colorful and fun photo filled books and right away, started to read them with Ana. Here is a short video of an intro to one of the books, please excuse any mis-pronunciation or mistakes as I am learning too!
And that is how easy it is to get started. There is a gude to help you teach and learn with your child. As Ana is so young, she is not reading yet. So, we will learn together through reading often and repeating the words while looking at the great photos and pictures. Ana is like a sponge, and quickly learned her first 5 numbers in Spanish, so she is ready to learn more. We found the books fun, colorful and easy to read together. And, they kept her attention which is not the easiest thing with a toddler.
Want to learn more? Here are all the details from the website and founder:

Hello Dear Readers-
I love doing crafts with Ana, and read a lot of blogs for great ideas. Sometimes I can adapt them for a 2 year old, and sometimes I just pin them for us to make when she is older and she can use scissors, glue and other older kid stuff. This year we are going to celebrate both Passover and Easter, so I have been looking for cute ideas for Easter crafts. Here are some that I found, and I will definitely share any that we make.
Hello Dear Readers:
I am sooooo behind on sharing recipes, so I am taking a few moments during our last (I hope, I hope) snow storm for this season. Here is one of my personal faves from the last month. It is a divine chocolate peanut butter banana bread. I doubled the chocolate from the original recipe, so that when the bread is toasted, the chocolate gets all melty and yum.
I made 4 small loaves, but you can make 2 regular sized loaves!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread
3 cups All Purpose Flour, divided
2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
4 Very Ripe Bananas, slightly mashed
1/2 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Sour Cream
2 Eggs
1/4 cup Canola Oil
1 cup Packed Light Brown Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 1/2 cups Bite-sized Peanut Butter Cups, or chopped peanut butter cups ( I chopped mine up)
1 (3- To 3.5-oz) Bar Premium Dark Chocolate, chopped (I used half a bag of dark chocolate chips, it was pretty much double what this recipe called for)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees; spray two 9×5” loaf pans with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, whisk together 2 ¾ cups of the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon; set aside.
Fit a stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
Beat the bananas,
peanut butter, sour cream, eggs, oil, brown sugar and vanilla until well
blended, about 2 minutes.
Spoon the flour mixture into the banana
mixture and beat on low speed until just blended.
Toss the peanut butter
cups in the remaining ¼ cup flour (to help prevent sinking) and stir
into the batter along with the chopped dark chocolate.
Divide the batter evenly between the two loaf pans. (or in my case, 4 little pans)
Bake for 50 to 55
minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans.
Cool completely on a wire
rack before slicing.
I love it warm, you can put a little peanut butter on it to melt in, or butter or eat it plain. YUM, perfect for a cold winter's day. Enjoy the recipe,
It is not often that a chance comes along to include hubby in a product review or even feature him on the blog (though I do need to remedy that with more photos and info). So you can imagine my excitement when I received a beautiful silk-like tie from Puccini that he would be testing out. I also knew that meant he would have to wear it with a suit, which truth be told, he doesn't have much need to don being a train engineer , and a daddy. I thought we would get out for a night on the town, but alas we have not had the chance too since our vacation in Florida. Needless to say, I did get him into that suit and tie and he looked so spiffy, I had to share:
Duncan all spiffy!!
Isn't that a fabu tie?? It is from"PUCCINI's New Repp-Stripe Collection that is available in 8 trendy
colors. Each tie is made from a unique microfiber fabric that looks and
feels identical to silk but is more wrinkle and stain resistant. Each
tie features two unique colors paired with a contemporary striped
design. "
Close up
This tie feels like top quality and looks like it would last awhile. And, I looove this color. It is such a nice neutral that it would go with just about any suit and shirt. I would like it with a dark gray suit and pastel top, or white. Here it it shown with a nice cornflower blue, and it looks great! Here are all of the available colors:New Repp Striped Tie Collection
Serious hubby!
This wonderful tie was sent to me fromBows N Ties. They have an amazing selection of all kinds of ties, and they are organized by color which I really appreciate and makes it super easy to navigate. Also, they have an amazing customer rating, so you know you are in good hands whether you need a tie for a wedding, a night out on the town or an important business meeting. At just $9.90 each, you could pick up one of each color.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
This post is some time coming, but better late than never.
Recently we visited Gma and Gpa Gaines at a beautiful beach house in St Augustine, Floria. We had many adventures from visiting downtown St Augustine on foot, the Little Red Train, the beach, the parks and the Alligator Farm. It took me a while to go through all of the hundreds of photos that I took, but here are some of my faves. Also, I will be posting the photos from our cruise around St Augustine and the view from the boat!
Gpa caught a fish!
A grocery run, i love these carts!!
Dinner up in the trees
Ana loves the beach!
and:
There are so many more photos, so I expect there will be a couple more pretty St Augustine photo posts ;) Stay warm. Spring will be here soon.

Dear Readers,
I have been throwing around the idea to host a fitness contest in my area. Last year, I participated in a Mommy Meltdown Fitness contest and lost 18 lbs, and I would love to inspire friends, family and others to do the same. I think I am going to set it up the same way. Have a definitive amount of time. And then get a couple of sponsors to offer prizes to the winner! Or have a couple of winners, and a grand prize winner! I know the real prize is getting back into great shape, but in the meantime a little competition could do us all a bit of good. I know I would like to lose 10-15 more lbs before squeezing back into a bathing suit. And 3 months would be all it takes. I plan on rejoining Stroller Strides for April, now that the weather is more mild and class will be back outside. What do you think? I think.....GOOD. Let's do this! I am setting it up today. No time like the present.
As some of you know I am an audiobook reader/narrator for Audible so as you can imagine, I LOVE to read. I love to read out loud, to myself and to Ana. MY fave genre is probably mystery, or thrillers. But, I love to mix it up with nonfiction, some chick lit and the occasional fantasy or scifi. One of my fave series of all time is the Lord of the Rings series, including The Hobbit. I was so excited that it was going to be made into a Peter Jackson movie, and I cannot wait to show it to Ana someday. In the meantime, I am excited to bring you a cool app and giveaway for a copy of the DVD/Bluray. I know that we will be adding one to our collection. Check out the app, and then enter to win at the rafflecopter below:

It is that time of year again. St Patty's Day. Easter. Planning Ana's birthday. Last year, I took a couple of months and really planned out the costume/dress, color scheme, and made all of the paper crafts. This year, I will be buying them or trading for them on etsy and other sites. I want to make it as easy as possible. And one way I can make it easy is to pick a popular theme, like mermaids. Ana loves mermaids. Her fave princess right now is Ariel, as well as her baby dolly. So what better for an outdoor swimming party than a mermaid party.
One of the sites I recently checked out for personalized and unique items was Cafe Press. Have you ever checked it out?? Chock full of great gift ideas, cool cards, phone covers, and some beautiful birthday party invitations like these:
Not only was Cafe Press generous enough to offer my readers a $50 GC for their site, but they are offering me one too. I am going to buy Ana some cute mermaid items such as a tshirt and an adorable necklace charm like these: Charms.
Really , there is something for everyone. Tshirts, Mugs, Mouse Pads, Jewelry. So many cute designs from holidays, to photo personalization. I love their phone covers too, as I change my iphone cover with the season.
**I did not receive compensation for this post, however I did receive the same prize GC to buy something cool. Giveaway open to US only, GC will be the responsibility of CafePress.
Hello Dearies-
Tomorrow I am heading back into the city for a few hours to do some "pick-ups" for my latest audio books from Audible. I will post the links to the books when they are available to download. I am excited to head back into my beloved city, but hate leaving Ana behind. She will be in good hands with her G'ma Lee, and Daddy will be home in the afternoon. I am hoping to get a little shopping in, and maybe a yummy NYC lunch. And PINKBERRY, oh how i miss thee yogurty goodness. Will have some Wordless Wed photos and will be posting a couple new reviews and giveaways this week. Also, I finally have a schedule for the blog and am excited to add the blog to my organization of life. Have a great week :)
PS, I just chose a winner from Bible Series giveaway, and sent her an email, so check your emails tonight/tomorrow. I will announce soon, when claimed. Here is the random org:
I am such a big fan of Etsy, I peruse it almost everyday. Just yesterday I bought new chevron printed stuff for my craft room (reveal coming soon). I love shopping for stuff for the house, but my favorite Etsy creations are usually jewels and clothing. So, I was super stoked when Kelly Michelle was up for sponsoring this amazing giveaway and introducing her talented work for you to check out.I really love her new necklaces and think it is so pretty. I like simple necklaces that have that pop of color to stand out on your top or skin. I would wear this with a beautiful blouse and some cute jeans!
The lovely Kelly Michelle
From Kelly:
I
started Art by Kelly Michelle on June 12, 2012. I make a variety of
colorful paper goods, and have started to create glass tile necklaces as
well. I have always loved to do arts and crafts from a very young
age. I love drawing and making things with my hands. I have had dreams
of starting my own art business ever since 7th grade, but it did not
come true until last year. I really hope people can love and enjoy what I
make just as much as I do or maybe even more.
Origami Hearts
From her etsy shop Art by Kelly Michelle:
I’ve always loved art and crafts, especially drawing and coloring. I
like to scrapbook and make photo gifts for friends and family. I was a
volunteer helper/teacher at my church for over five years, where my main
contribution was making arts and crafts for up to 26 children every
Sunday. Doing arts and crafts makes me happy, and gives me a way to be
creative and express myself.
I’ve wanted to begin my own art business for a while now, but didn’t
know quite how to get it started until I found this site. I am hoping
this business will be blessed, but more importantly, that others will be
blessed by it!
Win this necklace and these beautiful handmade cards:
Gorgeous!!
Im loving these cards, I know anyone of my friends or family would be so impressed receiving a beautiful handmade card for a thank you or a birthday. The designs are so colorful and gorgeous. I am jealous that I cannot win!!
This giveaway is only open to those in the USA. Items shipped will be the responsibility of the sponsor: Art by Kelly Michelle.
Ana and I love to craft, we make several things every week, and if we are not crafting, Ana loves to color, paint, play with play dough or crayons. She has a sweet artist's easel and has already learned how to draw suns and flowers and write her name. We are working on the alphabet and her numbers, and though she can identify all of them, she is just starting to write them. She loves writing, and painting and crafting. So you can imagine how pleased I was that we were sent a cool box of Green Crafts from Green KIds Crafts. We opened the box together and the theme was perfect because we had just come back from Florida and the Beach: The Ocean.
Our cool Green Kids Crafts box!
Pin the tail on the whale
The first thing we noticed was how nicely all of the crafts were packed. Each craft was in a sealed bag with all of the ingredients or necessities for that particular craft. We looked through them all and decide we were going to start by making the boat. Ana loves pirates and boats and so she really loved coloring it with the cool pastels included and then inserting the sail into the boat. I took lots of photos of us making the boat, but first I want to show you a quick , cute video we made too!
This is the first craft we made:
A cute green sailboat
Ana coloring the boat
Ana and her adorable SS Ana boat
Our experience: We really had a blast making our first two crafts together and we cannot wait to make more. I love that all of the included elements were green, recycled parts, and were easy to assemble. The cards had colorful illustrations, easy instructions, and made it easy to work with a toddler. I think this is a wonderful, thoughtful gift and would love to receive a subscription like this. Not only would l find it useful, but it would be a fun way to have new crafts integrated into our crafting routine regularly. We loved it.
