Heading into Winter = Gaining Weight? Not in my book....

This week it has really started to feel nippy outside, and I fear deep inside as the winter sets in, that my lust for working out and sticking to the plan will diminish. I am taking every precaution.

I have started boxing classes 2x a week with "Downtown Leona Brown" in Beacon, and personal training with Keith of HV Fitness once a week. I walk fast/jog along the river, and try to head to the gym in NYC at least once or twice a week!

As for my diet, carbs have started to sneak their way back in, and before they can defeat me, I am on top of my calories and fat once again. I am going to blog , use this as a public food diary to hold myself accountable, and try to keep active despite the cold outside. I will avoid my pitfalls of freshly made breads, muffins, pies and cakes, and allow myself one cheat day a week to have something "naughty".

I do need to find a jogging partner up in Beacon, I know that it would be more fun and encouraging to have a friend to chat with while sweating up a storm.

What do you do to keep yourself going in the cold?? How do you stay warm? What fitness classes or workouts are you doing that are fun?? Is anyone out there??

Stay warm and healthy..while I figure this all out!

New training in Beacon!!

Yay! I am so excited for the Fall in Beacon and NYC and everything is all set to go! I have 24/hr fitness in NYC...and everyone there has been so nice and helpful. The classes have been challenging, but fun so far, and I love the location right on Madison Square Park.

In Beacon as of next week I am starting personal training twice a week with Hudson Valley Fitness on Main St. I met the owner, Keith Laug this afternoon to go over my long term goals (maintenance and eventually a 6 pack) and my short term goals: 5 lbs and an inch off of my waist.
The studio is small , but has the essentials and I cannot wait to start in my own little cute town!!

Today I am finishing cleaning the house for house guests (cleaning is a workout in and of itself) and took a bike ride through town and down to the river to pick up the Jeep.

I have been sticking to a low fat diet, with very little bread, rice or desserts. No fried food.

Monday I will start my weekly weigh ins and measurements to keep myself in post-Brett and RevAbs, revamp check.

Enjoy the sunshine,

One more lb lost!

Duncan and I recently took a trip to the North Fork of Long Island, and was really fun! The weather was beautiful and we got to explore all of the little towns, and eat, eat eat! I was so worried from all the eating, that I did not want to get on the scale when I got back to the city, and my new-ish gym: 24 Hr Fitness. But and this is a big Butt!! But, I lost 1 lb. After all the seafood, and ice cream, I still managed to come out on top. I think it was my rogue bike trip where I decided instead of hanging out at the wineries with D, I would get on my bike (in flip flops no less) and ride back to the Inn. I ended up riding 16 miles that day (after 10 years of non riding). What a blast. The whole thing has prompted me to buy a new bike. So, that is what I am going to look for this weekend. A new hot ride. Happy Weekend, and Happy Labor Day!!

Fun.

Doing this on my own...

It is not going to be easy, but now that I am no longer working with Brett, I have to control my amount of workouts, make them harder and stick roughly to the diet I have been following for the past 6 months.I found a local private trainer who is affordable, but had to add myself to a waiting list, as he is not taking new clients right now...Yikes! I rediscovered bike riding and love swimming , so that will have to take me through the fall in addition to the classes at the gym. Also, having Duncan be as conscious of our diet will help.

I still desire dessert, but as of Wed this week, will be going back on the low (or no) sugar, low carb diet for a few weeks, just to kick start my metabolism again to lose the last 10 lbs. I know that I am healthy now, but I still want to be a bit smaller, and really be a true size 4.

Tomorrow night I have a last meal of sorts..I am headint to Minetta Tavern with a friend, and I will feast before I famine..lol. Not really, I don't starve myself , so I really do not look at it that way.

Oh, and did I tell you that I finally wore a bikini (photos to follow). I was still very shy at the beach, but I did wear one! I think in 10 lbs I will be prancing around the beach in true happiness.

So happy to be blogging again, I am sure by keeping this up..I will have a place to vent, and celebrate the continuation of this journey!!

Stay healthy as we celebrate the end of the summer.

Xo

I am back for a 2nd round of Ab work...and detox.

So it is official, I have gone off the deep end. Just kidding, I am really looking forward to putting it out there. I started working out at a new gym with my favorite trainer in the whole world, Brett Hoebel. Monday marked my first day, and I am into a great detox from sugar, carbs, gluten, mostly caffeine, dairy and fruit.

Monday, we also had the fit test, so we can compare our strength from our first day to our last. We were tested in crunches, leg lifts, plank and side plank, bicycles etc. I am not nearly as strong as I was six months ago, but I am sure I will get back there.

This time around, I have a built in support system,as Duncan is doing the program with me too. It will help to have him in class for moral support as well as to help share the cooking and eating. Yesterday, I spent some time at Trader Joes and bought a whole bunch of fresh veggies, lots of mushrooms, greens, broccoli, squashes, three types of lettuce, some egg whites , and turkey slices as well as ground turkey to make into meatballs or turkey burgers. So far Duncan made a really healthy chicken vegetable soup...and tonight I made homemade turkey burgers in marinara with squash and mushrooms.

The hardest time to be detoxing is the first week. I know once I get over the hump everything will be easier and I will feel better. I hope to be at 100% by Friday. Or next Monday.

I will try to keep a food journal here or at least the highlights of what I eat and report back. Happy Week.

An update!! How are you???

Helllooooooo...I am so sorry that I have been away for so long. I have some good news, and some fun news...

First, I have been very busy with jobs, yes you read that right. Jobs.

As soon as I procured a part-time job working at a very cool club in NYC, I got busy with a three part romance novel series at Audible. Woohooo. It was really fun, and I hope to book some more audio books soon.

Now that I have a bit of a breather, I can start blogging again. I do not have much to tell in the way of Rev Abs. I do know that the video was cast and shot in LA, and that my friend Shelleen was cast in it! YAY!! They finished shooting last week, and I can't wait until it comes out. I will definitely let you know. For now, we are setting up a party to celebrate Brett's success, and party on! As for my weight loss, I have kept most of it off, just gaining 2-3 lbs since Xmas, which I expected. With the new job, I just can't get to the gym as much, but I am still going, and trying to walk everywhere. Plus, I am attempting to eat lowcarb, no sugar again...and I want to lose about 5-10 lbs to get into a bikini by July!

I got my bellybutton pierced with a pretty gold spangly bling, and I hope to show that off with the bathing suit too!!

On Sunday I get my headshots reshot, yay skinny headshots, and when I choose the best ones, I will share them too!!

I promise to post more and add photos too...stay well and eat healthy.

A new job? New clothes!! Lovin the new body :)

So, how is the exercise and diet going since Rev Abs finished? Great! I have only gained one pound since the day the program ended, and have been to the gym 5/6 days a week. I just can't get enough of trying new classes and working out, and love eating 5 times a day. I have added carbs back, but in small doses and am sticking to brown rice and whole wheat or spinach pasta. I have not yet had pizza, a bagel or even garlic bread, but I did break down and have my Pinkberry once, and even had some Friendly's ice cream a week or so ago (I cannot resist peppermint ice cream).

As for my new body and new clothes..woohooo I have been shopping twice and have a nice new size 4 and 6 wardrobe. My old clothes have been traded, and sent to my mom...though I still have to go through my spring/summer clothes, and put some on ebay.

Yesterday, I spent the day at Saks, and loved trying on all the cute clothes. The NYC Saks is a bit overwhelming when you have a list of basics, and a whole afternoon to look for them. I knew I needed a new jean skirt, a black dress, and some tops, so I started there.

I went straight to the DVF and Marc Jacobs collections and found some cute things. If I can't find them online, I will take photos when I wear them :). Here is what I bought:

dvfdress

First I tried this on and loved it! Simple, cute, a little sexy and bold- and black and white goes with everything!

Then I tried on a classic black wrap dress, and had to decide between the long sleeves or 3/4, I went with the 3/4. I bought it in a sz 4.  Also, I found a cute black skirt for the spring Also a 4!!! It looks sooooo adorable on, and i love the belt too! I will get so much wear out of it.

I also bought two beautiful marc jacobs tank tops. Tiny. Pretty. Not black. One is a fab lite green color with polka dots!  Also, I found a cute jean skirt, but I cannot find it online yet. I also picked up a cute black Theory sweater that was on clearance. Stylish with a little tie at the neck. Oh, and some fab hanky panky's in nice colors.  Tomorrow I will post my Woodbury Commons finds :)

New Year's Resolutions!!

OK..it is time to do what I have been procrastinating. Not my favorite activity of the year, but vital this time. And that is .... Write down my New Year's Resolutions.

For the first time in many years , my first and foremost resolution is NOT to lose weight, though I do want to lose my last 8 lbs before late June.

Resolutions (in order that they need to get done)

1. Get a job. (besides my acting gigs, something that brings in a regular income that I can rely on)

2. Get new headshots.

3. Get a new agent. One for voiceovers, and one for tv and film. Or a manager for both.

4. Send voiceover cds to all the publishing companies in NYC area.

5. Paint the inside of the house, and spruce it up.

This is a good start.

So I have been an active member of Equinox for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it. As of next week, I will have a regular workout schedule and will share the classes that I take, this week I have tried a lot of them to see what works with my schedule right now. As for the diet, I have pretty much stuck to the 5 small meals , with low carbs and protein based meals. I added back fruit and yogurt...and had sushi a couple of times since the 5 sq meals ended.

Tonight I made the no pudge fat free chocolate brownies, and they are soooo amazing. I made them in muffin tins , so they are small and mushy in the middle , just how i like them. YUM!!!

How are things going for you this lovely 2009??? Any resolutions you would like to share?? let me know...stay healthy and have a fab weekend.
